Sleighride

SLEIGHRIDE was designed and built as a lightweight ultra fast daysailer for fun sailing in Nantucket during the summer months. To achieve the flat out speed potential, weight was kept to an absolute minimum and she can carry nearly 5 tons of water ballast. During sail trials on flat water in Newport’s Narragansett Bay everyone was amazed to see the speedo sitting on 22 knots when a gust of 25 knots of true wind came through!

Despite the boat’s size and speed she is sailed with only two crew. All halyards and sheets are led back to the helmsman so that the two crew can even handle the large asymmetrical spinnakers. The jib is self-tacking and there are no running backstays which means all you have to do is turn the wheel to tack.

Situated forward of the twin helm stations is the spacious cockpit which can comfortably seat 12 guests. The interior is bright, airy and comfortable with an open saloon, galley and two cabins with heads.

Sleighride is proof that going fast does not necessarily mean wet and uncomfortable. She was built without consideration or restriction from any racing rules that tend to create slower boats, so she is very fast, but at the same time safe and stylish.
