REPORT AT NOON: 1st May
POSITION: 35 57N 20 24W
DAY’S RUN: 284 Miles COURSE 086
WEATHER: Much cooler. Mod sea and large Nly swell. Mainly cloudy
WIND: Norhterly at 13 – 14knots
The cold north wind is a blowing. Some of us are persisting with shorts but
it is definitely jacket time when on deck. Have had few porpoises but
nothing much else as we clear away from the Azores neighbourhood. Straight
line to Gibraltar is 750 miles so we should be there first thing on Saturday
morning, 4th May. We will take on fuel and have a good nights sleep then set
off for Palma on Sunday morning.
The wind has not been quite enough to maintain a good speed under sail so we
have had the motor on all the time with all sails except the genoa set as
that is damaged. That’s about all for today – all are happy and healthy on
board.
