Day 1 Palma de Mallorca to Gibraltar

Course – 233 Degrees Speed – 10.7 Knots Day’s Run – 268 Miles

Weather – Partly cloudy with 3 foot swells

Wind – 15 knots from N

Two months in Palma flew by as we completed some much needed maintenance and now we continue our journey of the worlds oceans. We left Palma yesterday just after midday and had pleasant conditions for the first 6 hours then the swells increased to 10 feet (3m) and the wind dropped and we did a lot of rolling. We passed North of Ibiza to get the best shelter from the swells rolling in from the SE. We then ran into electrical storms, torrential rain and winds up to 35 knots all making for a fairly unpleasant and sleep free night.

We have been making good speed and the conditions have improved drastically since the sun came up. The fishing lines are out but no luck yet. Assuming we can maintain 10 knots of speed we will be arriving in Gib at first light tomorrow. The plan is to take on duty free fuel and get out through the straits in daylight.
